Support » Plugin: Ditty News Ticker » Hide Show Ditty News Ticker as a Fixed Notification bar

  • Resolved cjc1867

    I would like to use Ditty News Ticker as a fixed notification bar at the top of the screen. I have got the bar working but I would like a way of allowing the user to either close it, hide it and show it again.

    I have looked at other plugins that do this but can’t work it out as I am not a programmer. All is needed is a button to either the left or right to hide and show the bar.

    What would be the simplest way to implement this?

  • Hi
    OK I have solved it by looking at another plugin that I forgot I had. The Quick Notice Bar had a really simple way of doing it.

    <!-- Ditty News Ticker -->
        <div id="my-news-ticker">
            <?php if(function_exists('ditty_news_ticker')){ditty_news_ticker(2876);} ?>
            <a title="Hide Bar"><img src="<?php echo get_stylesheet_directory_uri(); ?>/images/up.png" style="position: absolute;cursor:pointer;right:0px;margin-right: 20px;margin-top: 2px; float: right;"  onclick="jQuery('#my-news-ticker').slideUp(function(){jQuery('#wpqn_down').slideDown();});" /></a>
        <div style="width: 40px;position: fixed;top:0px;cursor:pointer;right:0px;margin-right: 15px;display: none; z-index: 999999;" class="wpqn_down" id="wpqn_down">
           <a title="Show Bar"><img src="<?php echo get_stylesheet_directory_uri(); ?>/images/down.png" onclick="jQuery('#wpqn_down').slideUp(function(){jQuery('#my-news-ticker').slideDown();});" /></a>

    I had to modify the CSS slightly to get it to work with my theme.
