Hide post in overview when viewing the post

Hello everyone,

I have created a custom post type on my site that shows events. When people click on an event the event details are shown with a sidebar on the right.

In that sidebar there is also a list with the five latest events.

Is it possible to hide the event that the user is currently watching in that overview of latest events? In that way the user can’t be confused by clicking on the same event that he is already watching.

Hope someone can help me out with an example of how to do this!
