# Hide Categories?

 * Hello –
 * I’m being a little bit anal-retentive, but in my theme, there were several categories
   that were preset. As I’ve been populating my own information, I don’t really 
   want to delete those original categories as I might want to use them later.
 * But if I use the Categories widget it will include all of the categories (old
   and new).
 * Is there any way to hide those old ones that I don’t have any data linked to 
   without deleting them? Thanks!

 * There’s a few plugins for that, do a plugin search with the terms “exclude category(
   ies)” or “hide-category(ies)”
 * Some will hide only from the lists, some will hide from searches too.

 * Thank you! Found Hide Categories. It helped me to realize the problem was in 
   the settings on the widget as well. This is perfect.
