    Hello all,
I want to associate some products with a monthly sale. These aren’t necessarily ‘sale’ products though, so I’ve created new categories for this (ex. “_SPEC-Cameras”). This way, a product that is associated with “Cameras” can ALSO be associated with “_SPEC-Cameras”. I would then create a page just for SPECIALS and call the “_SPEC-…” categories there.

Everything seems to be working the way I want it, but the “_SPEC-…” categories show in the sidebar navigation of the site when they have a product associated with them. Though this makes sense, I’d rather not have those categories SHOW in the sidebar nav.

The categories themselves still have to be active though, so the identified products will show in the SPECIALS page where I DO want them called.

Basically: I want to ‘hide’ a few unique categories from the navigation (9 in total) but leave it as an active category so I can call those products into a ‘specials’ page.

Hopefully this makes a little sense. What can I do here?

    Hey there!

I’d recommend setting up a custom menu. You can add menus as a widget to the sidebar, and it gives you full control over what categories you display in the sidebar. No need to fiddle with code to hide certain categories – just add the ones you want and use the ‘Menu’ widget instead of ‘Product categories’ one.

Hope that helps. Have a wonderful day ahead!

    Hi there,

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.

    Kind regards,
