[Resolved] Hide all comments before moderation and leave admin alone

  • Can someone clarify this for me? I’m confused.

    If i tick “
Before a comment appears An administrator must always approve the comment”, comments are duly hidden before moderation

If i untick it and allow editors to moderate their own comments, all comments are shown live until editors moderate? That is scary.

Why does the admin have to do all the REAL moderating?

I want the editors to get told about comments appearing so THEY can moderate and allow them to be seen. Leave the admins time to play with the options etc.. That makes sense to me.

    Am i missing the point?

You could use a role management plugin such as http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/user-role-editor/ to extend comment moderation privileges to specific editors.

Thanks Esmi, i’ll look into that.
Also i just looked again and the “Comment author must have a previously approved comment” option became clearer. It keeps new comments out unless by previously approved commenter!

That solves my problem for the time being as most spammy stuff uses random emails and identities all the time
