    Hi Mark;
    Higher quality thumbnails (if available, not all YouTube vids have those) can be forced by adding “#hqThumb=1” to your httpv-link.

    Image optimization is entirely YouTube’s thing I’m afraid (until/ unless, in the future, I add functionality to cache the thumbnail locally, in which case some automatic optimization could be done).

    Hope this helps,

    Hi Frank

    Is there a way to add the #hqThumb=1 to all links?

    Yeah, using the “lyte_match_preparse_fragment” filter in the API.

    There’s an example doing just that (adding hqThumb) in lyte_helper.php_example in the plugin’s folder.

    Hi

    I used the snippet, but it doesn’t show an image on all videos. Is it possible to make the snippet so that if no hq image is available it will use a low quality image? Thanks

    that probably is possible (if YT returns a 404 if HQ isn’t available), but I don’t have that handy I’m afraid.
