Help with Wave Addict Theme

Aloha! First of all, I’m trying to use this theme and is created by somebody called UNO according to Natty WP. Second, I have contacted UNO directly by emailing them to see if they have a fix for newer WP version. Haven’t heard a word yet. Now, when I tried to activate this theme in WP 3.0.1, I noticed that the header menu buttons show doubles or triples rather than just one button per page. I noticed the author used a custom code for the header menu instead of typical WP code. How do I troubleshoot this part? I even tested in older version, WP 2.9.1, and still get this odd behavior. According to the theme author, it says that it works on versions from 1.x to 2.7. Is this why it no longer functions properly? Is there a workaround? Thanks for your assistance!
