Help with Spam on comments

    Hello all,
    For some reason, I’m getting an incredible amount of spam that comes in the form of comments to my blog posts. I want to allow comments but I hate to get literally hundreds of spam comments every day. Maybe I need to require a captcha field requirement to the posts. Can that be done or would I need an extension? I don’t know if that would even help… probably. I can’t imagine anyone has nothing better to do with their life than post spam on a blog as comments.

    Have you activated the Akismet plugin that is loaded with every WP install? That is the first thing to do in managing comment spam. If that doesn’t solve the problem to your satisfaction there are captcha plugins also.
