Support » Theme: Twenty Eleven » Help with some theme edits (width, search etc)

  • Hi everyone,

    I just installed the latest version of WP here http://x.co/pvOi.

    I have some edits I’d like to make and any help is appreciated.

    1. I’d like to remove the search box from the header.
    2. I want to increase the width of the menu and page content so it’s more flush (full width) rather than have extra space on both margins.
    3. remove the grey line atop of the header.

    Thanks in advance!

    Marten

    Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. It is the default WordPress theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues. First create a child theme for your changes.

    I want exactly the same as starting point of my twentyeleveng editing.
    I did my child theme and i succesfully remove the greyline at the top of the header. It is a very obvious border defined by the style.css at the “header” or something like that section. I only switched the border from 2px to 0px so now its gone.

    editing, now i succesfull remove the search form by deleting this line in header.php

    <?php get_search_form(); ?>
