 * Hi there,
 * Newbie blogger here with no understanding of all the technical side of things(
   sorry). Just wondering when it comes to security plugins – I’ve got the following
   free versions installed/activated:
 * WP Spamshield
    Wordfence Security Securi Security iThemes Security Akismet Antispam
 * My questions is: do I need all of these? Which ones could I remove without losing
   any security function for my site? I really have no idea what I’m doing (as I’m
   sure will be obvious to many people in here) so would be super grateful to know
   what ones I need to ensure my site is safely protected, without adding unnecessary
   plugins to slow my site down.
 * Thanks so much in advance!

 * Hi [@aliceemmett7](https://wordpress.org/support/users/aliceemmett7/) (Im just
   a normal member),
    You can combine 2 plugins like (WordFence + iThemes Security)
   without issues, so you dont need other plugins for the same security – but you
   need something good for SPAM (like Aksimet – if you are using WordPress comments
   on your website?),
 * Even just with WordFence you will have good security / the same as with iThemes
   Security -> it have some good extra premium features like 2FA (2Factor Auth),
   and can enable Captcha for comments, login, registration (that will kill 60%
   of comment spam).
 * If you dont use comments (then you dont need SPAM, comments etc plugins)…
    If
   you need security then iThemes + WordFence is good free mix, if you go premium,
   then I would go with iThemes Security or even Securi Security (its great plugin).
 * + Before anything else, the important part is secure password and some good Password
   Manager (like LastPass)

 * I’d use just one, lest they fight it out and break or slow down your site. More
   security plugins does not mean more better security.
 * For spam, I like “Antispam Bee” and I use Google invisible recaptchas on all
   forms.

 * Thank you both so so much for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate your
   help 🙂
