Help with migration and Jetpack problem
I wasn’t sure if I should put these few questions in one place or separate threads. I’m new to wordpress.org and I’m having a few teething problems. Just as background, I started with a wordpress.com blog about a month ago importing from blogger and realised that I lost my traffic because of the different urls. Consequently I’ve now done a second migration to self hosted WP.
1. I can’t install Jetpack. I get an error: ‘site_id_invalid’. Error Details: This site is already connected to WordPress.com. How do I uninstall this from wordpress.com so I can have it on my new site? (I’ve already tried uninstalling and reinstalling on my self hosted site and have deleted all separate components e.g. Akismet though have recently reinstalled this to stop spam until I fix my jetpack issue).
2. Do I need to do anything more with my wordpress.com site other than make it private to avoid duplicate content for search engines?
3. To fix the url issue that I first experienced on my blogger to wordpress.com migration, I’ve done some research and included the following code in my permalinks, custom structure: /%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%.html
Do I need to do anything else or get my original blogger traffic back (currently can’t see if it has made any difference because of my jetpack problem which means I can’t currently see my site stats).
Really appreciate all and any help. I was originally nervous of coming to self hosted because of my lack of IT literacy but I’ve found lots of help on forums so far and hope I can iron out these last few wrinkles.
Btw, my site is: http://www.indianajo.com 🙂
