Help with manual migration

  • Hi

I’m new to WordPress but starting to enjoy it, however…

I have had a site built from my design which uses the Ultimatum theme.

It is hosted on a test site and we now need to migrate it to another host.

We have tried to use the WordPress Move and Migration Assistant, but it fails on the database transfer. I am sure it is an ftp issue but fails even when using a secure ftp.

I followed a post that showed an manual migration by downloading the backup files then uploading them to the new host and using the restore… I got success on all files using this method but nothing has loaded into the dashboard?

    Am I missing something simple?

    Thanks

    Thanks.

All reads a bit too complicated for me I sorry to say…

Looks like I’ll have to rebuild the site on the new server somehow.

    🙁

If you install WordPress on the new server – whilst the old install is still running – and copy over the theme’s folder, you should then be able to copy the content over using Tools -> Export/Import.
