    Hi,

Happy to help if I can. There are a couple of things to check. First, do you have an image set in the “Open Graph Settings” metabox on that specific page? If not, do you have a featured image set? If not, then the plugin will look for the first image in your post content, or just use the global image set on the main settings page (Settings > Open Graph).

Hopefully that helps. The way it appears now, the plugin just isn’t finding any image that’s set in any of those places. Let me know if you’re still having trouble.

    Hi Alex –
Thanks for the response. I do have the image I want uploaded on the specific page (along with the other tags, like title and description). I also have the same image loaded as the featured image. But when I view on Facebook it’s not finding the image I uploaded. Instead, it is posting the image used in the slider.

To troubleshoot, I tried deleting the image completely from my media file and uploading it again. I’m not using Yoast SEO. That was one trouble-shooting tip I found on your page. Other ideas? This is so easy to use, I’d love for it to work on our site.

The Facebook debugger gives me this warning:
    Inferred Property
The ‘og:image’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.
    Missing Properties
The following required properties are missing: og:image, fb:app_id

Hm… that is odd. A couple more troubleshooting questions for you.

    1. Do you have a link to the actual image? You should be able to find this in the Media tab in the admin. Even the file name might help.

    2. Do you know the dimensions of the image you’re trying to use?

    3. If you were to try to add that image to the page, the media uploader would appear, and when you click on an existing image, you should see “Attachment Display Settings” on the right. In the “Size” dropdown below there, do you see an “Open Graph” option?

Sorry for the hassle… hopefully we’ll get somewhere.

Hi — I just pushed up v. 3.3.0 tonight. There is a slight image-related adjustment in there that MIGHT address the issue you’re having. Let me know if you see any improvement!

Hi Alex – Thank you for your help on this. Sorry for the slow response. I had to put this project aside for a couple of weeks.
    1. Here the link to the actual image.

    https://water1st.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/bike-for-water-graphic-open-graph.jpg

    2. It’s 600×315

    3. When I upload the image to the page and click on an existing image, the media uploader simply says “set as open graph image” – I don’t see anything called “attachment display settings” or any size options.

    4. I updated to the latest version 3.3.0 and am still having the same issues. These are the error messages I’m still receiving (even after clearing the cache).
    Inferred Property
The ‘og:image’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.
    Missing Properties
The following required properties are missing: og:image, fb:app_id

    Thanks!

    Hello!

No worries, I just pushed a new version tonight (v3.3.1), which will hopefully address the issues you’re having here. Would you mind updating to that version and let me know if it’s still a problem?

Thanks for your patience in working through this with me!

Hi Alex – I saw your message and wanted to try this right away. Thank you for working on this! A virtual high five to you! All is working.

The Facebook sharing debugger still gives me this message:
    Missing Properties
The following required properties are missing: fb:app_id

But everything I want to display on Facebook and Twitter is showing correctly. So I’m going to ignore it. 🙂

    Thank you!

    Hi, Marla —

    Great to hear!

As for the “fb:app_id” message: To set that up, you’d need to create a Facebook “App” online and then set the ID in the WordPress admin. It’s a bit technical if you haven’t done it before, and isn’t required for Open Graph data to be parsed correctly by sites, so I’d say it’s OK to ignore it :). If you’re ever wanting to dig into that, however, this is where you’d start:

    Thanks again!

Thanks, Alex. I’m not sure my beginner skills are ready for that yet but I am filing away! Good to know I actually can ignore it. The plugin continues to work well. We are updating lots of pages that we like to share!
