So our company got its website developed on wordpress. Now we recently changed our offices and I somehow found the Contact Us page 🙂 and changed the address. However the Page also has google map integrated which is still pointing to the old location.

Can anyone please guide me how to change so that the Google Map also shows the current location.

Also when I access the admin, it is now asking me to upgrade the wordpress? What is the benefit of upgrading and how it will affect the website? Not asking for too much details just what things should I consider before upgrading?

My humble gratitude in advance for your assistance. Thank you.

  • Hi,

Google Maps is not part of WP core, and this forum is for WP core support.

Having said that, Google maps in a WP site would be provided by either a plugin or custom code.

There are many Google maps plugins and they each work differently, so you need to figure out if and which one your site is using.

If you find a plugin, then you need to ask the plugin support forum.

Is the site using a plugin to generate the map? If so, look for its control panels and documentation for how to go about replacing the old one with the new. Often the map is placed on the page through the use of a shortcode.

It’s very important that WP be kept up to date (and plugins and themes as well). You’ll benefit from newly added functionality of course, but more importantly many of the updates exist mainly as patches for security flaws. Some older versions of WP are easily compromised.

For more information on updating see the page below:

Pay particular attention to the section on the following page about upgrading across multiple versions if your WP installation is very much out-of-date.

EDIT: wpfan and I must’ve been typing together 🙂

    Hi Guys,

Sorry I couldn’t reply sooner. Thanks for the suggestions and help.

Apparently I just needed to copy paste a new code from Google Map to my Contact page. And the problem was solved.

Again much grateful for the assistance.

Great! Glad you figured it out.
