I am trying to display a Basic Thumbnail gallery, with captions under the thumbs. This has worked fine in the past, but some update of NextGen has broken it. I have selected “NextGen Basic Thumbnails”, chosen the one Gallery I want to display, Selected “NextGEN: gallery-caption.php” as the Template.

You can see the problem here: http://pipnee.com/P92426077

Scroll to the bottom of the page to see the issue.

I have it set to display 40 thumbnails per page.. but the silly thing puts all the captions for all the other pictures on the page. In other words, it puts 40 thumbnails on the page, but then puts another 120 captions on the page after that!!!

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks!

I upgraded to the recent 2.0.59 update but still it did not resolve the problem. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks to Cais at Photocrati Support, I have this resolved.

The problem was related to the “Add Hidden Images” feature. Under Dashboard > Gallery > Gallery Settings > NextGen Basic Thumbnails, the “Add Hidden Images” option was set to “Yes”, so I changed it to “No” there… and also changed it to “No” on every gallery on this site, and IT WORKS!

According to Cais, most people turn on the “Add Hidden Images” option so that all images in a gallery are shown in the Lightbox when there are multiple pages for the gallery. The “Add Hidden Images” option has a few quirks and the templates currently bundled with NextGEN Gallery are leftovers from NextGEN Legacy (pre-1.19.13) and do not honor many of the ATP options so they need to be used with care.

I hope this helps someone out there with the same problem.
