Help! Upgraded and blog now missing and I’m going to cry!

    I had some problems and posted on here previously and was told first that I HAD to upgrade ASAP! so I have spent all night trying to understand and follow the extended upgrade directions and finally managed to do it, but when I got to step nine and attempted to get in to my admin page I found my site is gone and insead I get a message;

    Warning: require(./wp-blog-header.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/thrnint1/public_html/index.php on line 4

    Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘./wp-blog-header.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/thrnint1/public_html/index.php on line 4

    Please, please help me out, I’m really ready to loose it. I have worked so hard on this and the techie stuff does not come naturally to me. Thank you!

    Did you uploaded all the files ? cleared the cache ?

    No such file or directory…

    Something is missing. Are you sure you uploaded all the files?

    wp-blog-header.php should be in your main blog directory. Sounds like the files might have been copied or extracted to the wrong place?

    nycgirl1 The Root Directory is where “wp-blog-header.php” should be, and its the Folder that also contains the Folders wp-admin, wp-content and wp-includes.

    If you accidentally put the 20 or so root directory files in the folder where your domain name is, that would cause it to fail.

    It can also be as simple as missing a single file upload.

    AND I hope you are still using the wp-config.php that was in that Folder before you upgraded?

    AND I hope you backed it all up, holus-bolus, before you began.

    Thanks for all the suggestions, you guys are great! I actually had to call my host and they checked and for some reason it was trying to read my site from my root diretory to my c drive!? Then when I uploaded the new wordpress it earased my content folder with original them. I had left the config and .htaccess like wordpress said but the host help desk deleted those and reinstalled wordpress again and even more stuff got deleted. Then they said it was gone and I had to revert to my backup. I had used their backup wizard which they told me had a bug and didn’t work! So they reverted to an older back up and I lost some work and am still not upgraded!!!

    I guess I’m going to try it again tonight? Although I’m still not sure what I did wrong or how to keep uploading the new wp from saving over my old content?
