• As the title says. I got a free domain through bluehost when I signed up. I made a very simple website using IWeb and was hoping to host it through bluehost as an independent site and link back to the blog from there. I created an FTP account for my new domain and used Easy iWeb publisher to upload the new site Going off advice I got from another forum. Unfortunately this overwrote my entire blog. I have now removed the add on account and site but don’t know where to go from here. I’m just getting 404 pages. The wordpress admin is still working and I have the xml file. I was just wondering how I get back up and running? Thank You.

Also I set a redirect to my facebook page when I first realised what had happened. Took it off after I removed the add on domain but it still redirects to facebook.

You will need to restore the default wordpress files. I would suggest contacting Bluehost to see if they have a backup for you.

I have mailed bluehost with my problem. Unfortunately the support there isn’t as active as here but I will post back with results. In the meantime if anyone can offer any possible solutions it would be much appreciated.

Also now I cant even log into my wordpress admin panel http://hypergiantmusic.com/wp-admin/
I really hope I havent deleted all my content.

your files are gone, but bluehost should have a backup. Are you sure they do not have live chat? Host Gator does, and it is almost instant.

Obviously, if your files are gone, the front end and the back end (admin panel) will have been deleted. However the backup should be a good way out.

That being said. Time to get a good back up plugin for your site. I recommend backup creator… but it is not free, and there are some decent free ones too.

I know blue host is considered the best… but no live chat is a deal breaker for me.

They do have live chat. I use it all the time. I actually find the best tech support normally comes from their live chat. It seems like their senior agents do the chats.

I really dont know what I was doing. I should have asked for instruction before hand. Even when I tried to update wordpress through bluehost I was getting a corrupt file error message. Also I’ve been on the line for the live chat for the last 30 minutes to no avail and I’m first in the queue. A hard lesson learned and I will definitely be installing some plug ins for backing up from now on.

I’ve come across that problem on their chat before. They said, If you are first in line and don’t get connected within 1-2 mins, then you are no longer connected to their system and you have to close and open a new chat again. Kind of an annoying glitch, but at least you don’t have to wait long to know if you have to restart to get a tech quickly.
