Support » Themes and Templates » HELP!!!!!! Problem with Twenty Eleven background

  • I have used Twenty Eleven for dozens of sites. I just created another one for a client and am having problems with the background for some reason. Everything looks fine on a desktop, but my client has a notebook and the background where content is located is not showing up properly.

    I have tried everything I can think of….I hope someone can help me.

    Take a look here at the image so you can see what is going on.

    check the site for validation errors:

    might be caused by an unmatched div or so which breaks the clearing of the floats;

    what browsers are used in the examples?

    Looks like your client is using an older version of IE. You have to make sure your site works in all browsers

    And just how do I accomplish that? I am just using the Twenty Eleven theme that I have used wit a dozen other sites and no one has told me it wasn’t working properly.

    I created a child theme for use with each site and the all basically use the same style.css so how would I compensate for older versions.

    I did the Validation and only found 9 errors all relating to what it calls obsolete elements in html5. Again, only just using what wordpress / theme shows on its tool bar to center etc.

    Thanks All

    Mate that’s just a basic height issue – what happens when you have floating elements in a parent element.

    You need to add overflow:hidden to the parent element (to the element that is styled with the white background)
