I have been trying to update my about me page image and although it changes in the widget section nothing changes on my page. I have tried on both appearance section and the page customiser. When i tried on the appearance section i was hit with about 20 red messages saying that each widget wasn’t working and to look at the developer tools. I have tried to contact the person who made the theme for me but iv had no response yet and iv tried deleting any new plugins as i was getting 403 error code too at one point but not not only am i getting the red messages but all the sidebar and footer widgets that i had recently added have disappeared.

I tried to restore to a few days ago as i have updraft but that has been restoring for ages and doesn’t seem to be finishing. I am at my wits end!

I will be great ful for any advice given.

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

If you can install plugins, install and activate “Health Check”: https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/
It will add some additional features under the menu item under Tools > Site Health.
On its troubleshooting tab, you can Enable Troubleshooting Mode. This will disable all plugins, switch to a standard WordPress theme (if available), allow you to turn your plugins on and off and switch between themes, without affecting normal visitors to your site. This allows you to test for various compatibility issues.
There’s a more detailed description about how to use the Health Check plugin and its Troubleshooting Mode at https://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/appendix/troubleshooting-using-the-health-check/

    Thank you for your reply.

I bought a theme from etsy and im starting to wish i did’nt as although it is lovely im wondering if maybe it is the issue. The creator had already installed sitehealth and contact 7 form and a few other bits and seems to know what he is talking about (according to all the brilliant reviews) but i have disabled all pluggins and i am still getting the same issue, im also gettin the forbidden 403 message in my widgets panel and all widgets i was using have moved into the inactive widgets section now for some reason.

I was a bit worried that if i try a different theme and come back to this one everything else that i have changed and added will disappear but im thinking i dont have much choice now.

I will check out that article too , thank you for your advice.

    Hey @bytammi

Try installing the Classic Widgets plugin to disable the new widgets screen in 5.8, and revert back to the original Widgets screen. It might fix your issues:
