• Hello I seem to have made a huge mistake and don’t know how to correct.

I created a website in a sub-directory folder (there is another website in the root directory with a different domain name). When I first installed the new wordpress website in the new directory, I installed it under the default website name and file directory)

    ie http://originalwebsite.com/newdirectory

Then once I finished creating the new website, I had to point the new domain name from network solutions to the hosting space at hostgator. Then I changed the url settings in my wordpress admin:

    Home url: http://newdomainname.com
    Site Url http://originalwebsite.com/newdirectory

Now when I go to login:
    http://originalwebsite.com/newdirectory/wp-login.php
a login screen comes up without formatting and when I put in my login and password, I now get redirected to a hostgator 404 not found page.

So I can’t log back in to the old address and can’t access the new address to login to wp admin either.

I’m so confused. I’ve found other threads suggesting this link to help:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL

But I’m not sure that will work because I’m pointing a different domain name from a different provider and the website files are in a sub-directory too.

Thanks for any help you can give!
