Support » Theme: Pinnacle » HELP!!! Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '.'

  • I tried to move the search bar from left to right. Found cs code on support site, copied and pasted it and got this message.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘.’ in /home1/oclearn/public_html/wp-content/themes/pinnacle/lib/admin_scripts.php on line 31

Went back into code page and deleted the text I pasted. But error message stayed and I cannot access the site.

Appreciate any help! I am new to WP and CS coding so an idiots guide would be very helpful

  • Hey,
So once you edit and break a site using the wordpress editor you won’t be able to go “back” and re-save something.

So you have to access your files through ftp or through cpanel on your hosting environment. Your hosting provider may be able to help you if your stuck.

As a general rule you shouldn’t ever edit code through wordpress to prevent a situation like this.

To do something like your talking about you would never need to edit code. You can place custom css into your site right through the theme options.

Please post a link here and explain what you want to do when you get your site live and I would be happy to walk you through a safe way to do this.
