[resolved] Help! Need registration like non-multi-site (20 posts)

I'm kind of desperate here. A client of a client wanted a fairly good-sized WordPress installation done, with the main site and 26 sub-sites. So, I got all that setup just fine using WP 3.01, and I've spent a lot of time at it.

Here's the thing: he's throwing a temper tantrum because when someone registers for the site, they have to wait for a confirmation email. He wants them to be able to register and have access right then. I know this is possible in WP without the multi-site function. What can I do to get that to happen in 3.01 multi-site (networked)?

    Thank you.

I don't know, maybe I didn't communicate very well. I'm using WP 3.01 as a MULTI-SITE installation. The above plugins do not work with multi-site. Neither does pie-register.

I need to be able to disable the notification/activation email. In Multi-Site (same as the old MU).

I need people to be able to register for the site without having to receive a confirmation/activation email.

  4. I will say that given the high number of sploggers, this is generally seen as a benefit. Fake emails are turfed, and people can't be dinks or sploggers. It lets you maintain your site a little better :)

If you ONLY have people registering to comment, however, I can see how it's annoying.

I've never seen an email to turn it off :( I'd try scanning the old mu forums as well as the plugin db for 'email' and 'multisite registration'

Thanks, ipstenu. I understand the benefits of the confirmation email. But the client simply will not see the light. I've scanned the forums, but have not as yet found what I need.

The wpmudev folks have a plugin that will do this:

    http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/remove-email-verification-from-signup

  7. FYI, that plugin is a pay-for plugin. Charge your client for it. ;)

the plugin is a paid one

It's the same plugin. Support from wpmudev cost $$, the plugin itself "is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License (Version 2 - GPLv2) as published by the Free Software Foundation."

    Thanks. Interesting plugin. Works.

Now, how best to incorporate user generated password in sign up form ?

Using p2 theme with sidebar login in header.

    Any guidance much appreciated.

  17. Copy it into a php fail and put it in your plugins folder. It's just manually installing a plugin, is all.

Is there a way to add password field to SINGLE WP registration form with sending email to registrant ?
    Thanks

  19. You;d be better off asking in a new thread in the HOW TO section, not the multisite section.

Ooops, sorry, didn't realized I'm in multisite only section. I will start new thread there.

    Sorry again and bye !
