 * Hey folks, I could really use some help. I’ve spent the last 2 days tearing my
   hair out trying to figure out whats going on.
 * To start with, my site is [http://www.LarryFlaxman.com](http://www.LarryFlaxman.com)
 * I’m running the latest version of WordPress and all plugins are up to date. Template
   is the latest version of Stargazer.
 * Everything was working fine the last time I checked. I logged into the site 2
   days ago to add some content and noticed that the background color is gone on
   all pages (it should be black) and the sidebars are now at the bottom of the
   screen instead of the right. In addition, the top menu looks funky and compressed
   as the search function is “overlaying” the home link.
 * I disabled all of the plugins thinking that maybe an errant plugin had updated
   and borked something up… and even disabled, it’s still broken.
 * When I go into the appearance->customize then change the background color, it
   looks ok in preview… but, then doesn’t stick when I save it and view the site.
 * Any help would be appreciated.

 * For the menu but use a child theme. [http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes](http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes)
 * .menu-items::after {
    padding: 5px; clear: both; }

 * I recommend asking at [https://wordpress.org/support/theme/stargazer](https://wordpress.org/support/theme/stargazer)
   or [http://themehybrid.com/board](http://themehybrid.com/board) so the theme’s
   developers and support community can help you with this.

 * Ari, thank you, I just posted there.
 * kmessinger – thank you. I actually failed to post that, but, I am using a child
   theme. Where do I put that css? I tried to put it into the extension called “
   Simple Custom CSS” and the site still looks the same.

 * You should have a style.css file in the child theme. Put it in there. And to
   see the effect you have to clear the browser cache.

 * Ok, I made the change, cleared my cache, and it still looks the same.

 * I use Chrome developer tools. You can high-light a element and it shows you the
   css that applies to it. You can change the css and watch the change take place.
   That’s what I did then copied the css. Sorry it didn’t work.

 * Is it still in the child theme?

 * Weird. I see it there but it is not doing anything.
 * Replace that with
    .menu li { display: inline-block; position: relative; padding-
   left: 35px; }

 * No, this is not the theme I want. I just put this up temporarily to see if it
   was the theme at issue.
 * There is still problems because even with this theme I am unable to upload a
   new header image. The “add image” button doesn’t do anything when I click on
   it under customize theme->header.
