• So, I’m looking to use WordPress to get my photography site put together but I’m running into roadblocks left and right. I downloaded and attempted to install WordPress as per the FAQ but every time I go to do anything, WordPress attempts to run inside of DreamWeaver, which is also on my Mac.

Can someone help me get it rolling? I can’t figure out why it keeps trying to open in Dreamweaver. I have my SQL info all set on my 1and1.com admin site.

  • I downloaded and attempted to install WordPress…

And what were the results of the attempt? Did you get a message stating it was successful? can you see the site when you go to the url for the site? were you installing on your local machine or on the web?

I am successful on getting it downloaded, I think my issue is trying to get it installed on the web, not my machine itself.

have you uploaded the files to your web host, or are you trying to run it on your mac? WordPress needs to go under a web server’s directory on your host/server – with php and mysql installed. It sounded like you are double clicking on a php file and it’s opening under your dreamweaver app because it is associated with php files.

i’m kind of in the same boat. have a MBPro

can i install and create my site before i have a domain and host service?
