I posted two questions here to get information about deleting a post from another site associated with wordpress. The original post was removed from that site for legal reasons but since I copied and pasted the site in my question here it is still showing up in google searches from this site. Can a moderator please help me with removing the two questions from this site? The questions are not informative for anyone else because there were no responses to solve the issue.

    Thanks

  • It is not the general policy to edit or delete forum posts. When a post is made and people contribute answers to an issue, that then becomes part of the community resource for others to benefit from and deleting posts removes this added value. In extreme circumstances, members of the moderation team might be persuaded to remove sensitive information that has been included in posts accidentally – but your best course of action is not to publish anything that you wouldn’t want to be public. (Remember too that other sites take archive copies of the forums, and we can do nothing to control that.)

So how can I discuss this matter with one of the moderators?

    I am a moderator.

Can you help me? Its affecting the person in their job search. Like I said the original post was on another site that has been removed and deleted and since I posted the question here on how to get that site to remove it made it still show up in searches in wordpress. I would just love to get this issue behind me.

I have removed the link in question. In future, please do not to publish anything that you wouldn’t want to be public.

I didn’t post the 2 links in this post because they would show up in google. Did you know what 2 links I was referring to? Not being smart of anything I just want to make sure.

    Thanks

Considering the potential nature of the site you linked to and implicit content suggested by the URL, I’ve departed from our normal policy and edited one of your earlier posts.

Please note for future ref that once you post something on to the internet, it can stick around for a long time, even after original sources have long gone. We have no control over other that, nor over the content on the site you originally linked to.

Thank you. Does that mean the persons name that is contained in my two questions I posted on this forum are removed? The questions are not the problem. Its the link I copied and pasted in each question is what makes it show up in a search for their name. They keep asking me when is it coming off wordpress before we end up in court. I mist akenly thought wordpress had something to do with the other site and it didn’t. I would have never posted the link in my 2two questions if I knew it would come up in google. I just simply want her name or the links removed so we can all move on past this.
    Thanks

We cannot control what Google shows. Nor can we control what content from this forum is picked up and displayed by other sites.

The person’s name has been removed from our forums. I will point out that a basic rule of the internet is that if it ain’t YOUR name and it’s not PUBLIC info, you DON’T post it. You wouldn’t like it if someone did that to you, after all 😉

IANAL but speaking as someone who’s been involved in those disputes before (personal info on webpages), given the context of your other posts, you’re not at risk of anything more than a slap on the wrist. You asked a question and didn’t share any information than was already publicized. That’s generally legally safe.

Mind you. If it’s at the point where you THINK you’re gonna end up in court, I hope you get a lawyer versed in the Internet.

Since we can’t affect Google’s Cache, there’s nothing else we can really do. (And I’m perfectly willing to take any heat given for MY links to DDTB).
