Now in my public_html folder i got the following:
    cgi-bin
    index.php (application/x-httpd-php
    php.ini (text/x-generic)

Is that correct, or should i delete then before installing wordpress again?

  • Hello, there should be more files/folders in your public_html if you installed WordPress but seeing that your site loads fine, you should have all the correct files.

    hello

most of the shared hosting will come with cgi-bin folder with some stuff inside, but when you install WordPress, it shouldn’t give you any issues if the cgi-bin folder is still exist.

so is up to you if you want to leave it or delete it, i don’t think it will harm in anyways..

    🙂

it’s depending on your hosting folder structure. If you re-install using automatic application of your hosting, so don’t need to delete those files. Otherwise, if you install manually, you may need to delete those if public_html is the main folder for ONLY your website.

To make sure, just contact your hosting provider to request their support.
