# help installing a site

 * hi everyone-
 * I just purchased a site from someone that runs off wordpress. I am new to all
   this so I have no idea how to reinstall in on my server. My hosting is with hostgator.
 * Is there someone here who is familiar with hostgator and could talk to me over
   IM on how to upload the files in the proper spots?
 * I would appreciate the help.
 * Please let me know and I can pass along my IM info.

 * I’m not entirely sure what it is you’re attempting… but have you checked out 
   [Moving_WordPress](http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress)? It may help.

 * I have read that. I am taking the files from the old owner and uploading them
   to my server. I believe (and I may be wrong) that I have to edit the wp-config.
   That is where I am unsure what I have to change.
 * There is the DB_NAME, DB_USER, and DB_PASSWORD.
 * I dont know what exactly to change them to.

 * I don’t really understand what did you purchased as a “site”.
    The domain name?
   Content? If domain AND content – be aware nothing is in the files, every data
   is stored in the database!
 * As for your question: you host should be able to tell you the correct DB info.
   Or, if you created the database, you know them already.

 * I am sorry if I am not describing this correctly.
 * I bought an existing site from someone (domain name and content). It is a wordpress
   blog.
 * I was given two files – a zipped file of the wordpress files and a zipped file
   of the database.
 * I have uploaded the wordpress files to my sever, but I am getting an error saying
   that there is a database error.

 * Well, you need to restore that received databasse, too.
    Basicalyy, what you
