In post edit settings, I can set a featured image for my post, which is displayed with the post excerpt on the homepage.

Currently they display as thumbnails – check out http://www.ramblingirish.com

Is it possible to make them bigger, and if so, how?

  • What is the size of the your thumbnail images in Settings ->Media?

Well, currently they are set to 150 x 150.

But I’ve toyed about with the sizes there, and in the scale image options when I’m setting the featured image for each post.

Even when I select the image to go in at full size or at set dimensions of 720 x 540 etc, they still display as you see them now.

Is this a CSS problem or do I need a plug-in to make this effect possible?

Increase the dimensions of the thumbnails in Settings->Media, then install & run Regenerate Thumbnails: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/
