# HELP I’m completely lost!

 * Hi –
 * I really wanted to get into blogging (1/2 for the fun of it and maybe a little
   bit of me wanted to make some money doing it, too) so I bought a domain through
   bluehost.com, at wordpress’ recommendation, downloaded wordpress and thought 
   I was all set. but I know NOTHING about code or anything like that. I guess I
   assumed wordpress would be a WYSIWYG editor and I wouldn’t have to edit the code
   to use templates, etc. they made it seem like: purchase the domain, pay someone
   to host it, and let wordpress do the rest (I admit I didn’t do enough research
   at first). Anyway, is there any way to make my blog look good, ad google adsense,
   update regularly, and customize what my blog looks like without knowing all the
   ins-and-outs of code. I’ve been sitting here for hours now trying to figure it
   out and I just can’t. please, please, please help so I don’t feel like I just
   waisted so much money!

 * Check the [theme directory](http://themes.wordpress.net/) and learn [how to install a theme](http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Themes)

   learn [how to use plugins](http://codex.wordpress.org/Advanced_Topics#WordPress_Plugins_and_Customization)
 * 3. update regularly

 * I was able to install new themes without a problem, I just don’t know where to
   go in the code to change generic things to what I want them to say/do (or, once
   I find what I need to change, I don’t necessarily know the code to change it).

 * you need to start by following the links provided to you by mendezki — it’s reasonable
   to suggest that you do a little reading.
