Hello, all. We recently lauched a new anime shop and it’s been a lot of work. One issue is that all old URLs broke and/or were hard to redirect onto the new store, especially from my blog, which has been around for 25+ years.

Here’s the current issue. I have a string like this:

    https://jlist.com/anime-toys/figures?dir=desc&order=news_from_date

which I need to convert to this

    https://jlist.com/en_US/shop/toys

The first part I can do using Better Search and Replace, but any text like “?campaign=mar23&utm_content=p” refuses to be seen by the search algo, and I cannot do any replace with characters like this. Unfortunately having “?campaign=mar23&utm_content=p” in the updated URL breaks things on the new site, resulting in frustrated customers who cannot click my links. I’m hoping to avoid having to manually fix 25 years of blog posts…

So, can anyone kind soul give me any advice on how to handle strings like this in a WordPress blog on Better Search and Replace? I might send you something from Japan!

Nevermind, I got the answer. Basically, the & character is rendered as & inside WordPress, and switching ot that made it work. Yay!!

    Hi @ppayne!

Better Search Replace Support Team here. Glad to know you were able to sort it out!

You’re right. The database saves ampersand (&) characters as &, so you would need to use it for the search as well.
