• Hi all, I’ve done a bit of website setup using WordPress in the past, but am an absolutely novice with most things relative to coding/development (I had simply used Bluehost’s one-click install to set up my WordPress site).

My Bluehost-hosted WordPress site (using the SmartMag theme from themeforest.net) was recently hacked and can no longer be accessed, and in Google search results it now points to an obviously unsafe website. I want to re-create the site on another platform, and had downloaded a backup of everything via FTP, but can’t figure out where I can view all of my blog posts to be able to copy the text/links over. I did manage to get an install of WordPress running locally, but have no idea how to open up my backup, or if I could simply copy that over to my local WordPress folder I made and am opening with MAMP. I was hoping there might simply be files for each post that I could open in a browser window with text and links shown, for example, but it seems like that’s tucked away in some kind of file that you can’t search via normal text search (again, I have no idea what I’m doing in that regard).

Can anyone with more experience point me in the right direction? I feel stuck and am worried I’ll never be able to access that content again, without paying for an expensive Bluehost malware removal and buying into a lot of services that seem like a ripoff. I don’t need to repair the current site – I just want to be able to work with my local backup so I can copy the content over to a new website.

    Thanks in advance!!!

  • Hi, WordPress stores page/post content in the database. If you have access to the old DB you can export it. Or if you have access to WP admin you can export all your posts through there. Hope it helps!

Get a fresh cup of coffee, take a deep breath and carefully follow this guide. When you’re done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of the recommended security measures.

If you’re unable to clean your site(s) successfully, there are reputable organizations that can clean your sites for you. Sucuri and Wordfence are a couple.

If your site in Google webmaster you see there hacked site tool.you.u can fixed it there
