• I’m attempting to remove comments from my website altogether. I’ve read some threads on here but most of them regarding comments are 3+ years old. I have some experience in html coding but it’s been over 10 years and I’m new to wordpress. I have unchecked the comments box from my dashboard, but it still shows up on my page, specifically my bio page.

Can anyone provide a troubleshoot on how to remove the comments box from my settings and individual pages??

my website (under construction) is http://www.josephmcconnell.com

  • in your theme files, just remove the calls to comments. most likely, it’ll be in the content.php, single.php, or index.php files. It’s hard to say where it is, because you don’t say what theme you’re using. But it should be using “comments_template()”. remove that and they should no longer be visible on your site.

Oh…sorry. I’m using the standard theme that is the default. Twenty Eleven.
Thank you… I will try that right now

Shelly…..I’m still very lost. Sorry. Can you provide a step by step troubleshoot for the Twenty Eleven layout??

    Thanks in advance.

I can’t provide a step-by-step tutorial, but your comments fields – in twenty eleven – are in single.php and page.php. Remove that, and it’ll remove the comment boxes from your single posts and Pages. The link that you click to leave a comment is in content.php (comments_popup_link()).

Other than that, I’m not quite sure what else you’re looking for.

(and for the record, I may not be around to answer throughout this upcoming week, as I live in the path of the lovely Sandy, and we’re expecting power outages starting tomorrow. Hopefully that doesn’t happen and I can still come back in 🙂 )
