HELP! database error, pw and username are good

  • Hello, i’m new to this and i get the following error when trying to install wordpress:

    Can’t select database
We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the janet-planet_net_-_syte database.

    anyone can help me?

  • 1) are you sure the the database is actually created?
    2) are you sure the database name is spelled correctly?

lol well this is the problem. i have NO idea what i’m doing…i think the database is created, it says the following on my phpadmin thingy:

    Server: localhost Database: janet-planet_net_-_syte

so hmm…that should be good i guess??
Anyway, i wonder if someone (maybe you?) can come maybe on msn shortly, to help me out a little?

Also, did you add the user to the database?

Does your host use cpanel? If so, there’s a section with a dropdown box with the list of users and another with the databases. Select the appropriate user and database, and click on the “add user to db” button.

Other control panels should have similar options…unfortunately, I’m not familiar with other control panels…

I don’t see such options unfortunately..i made a screencap of my php admin thingy (the cpanel i think?? lol) and all it has is the following:

I found my problem! only no way to fix it lol. Its cause i used dots in my database name, that it won’t let me do anything with it. I guess i should call my host tomorrow to help me fix it!
