 * Hi,
 * I’m writing a blog about software/code but I’m completely new to web development.
This is probably a basic question but I want my code blocks to have a black box
around them with white text instead of how the built in code tags with the greater/
equals sign tags look. I tried installing a plugin that said to do this ([https://wordpress.org/plugins/blog-terminal/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/blog-terminal/))
but when I put the [terminal] tags in my ‘edit post’ area it just doesn’t do
   anything and just shows:
    [terminal] code here [/terminal]
 * Was I supposed to do something else to get this plugin to work? If not and it
just doesn’t work, is there a way to manually edit the style for code tag to
   change background and text color?
    Thanks!

 * Just based on the plugin’s description, it’s not what you’re looking for, but
you can reach that plugin’s support at [https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/blog-terminal](https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/blog-terminal)

 * Thanks for replying! I actually did see those plugins, but from the screenshots
it looked like they only offered syntax highlighting, not changing the background
to black (making it look like a terminal basically). Just to be clear, I’m not
looking to actually run any of this code– just to display it.
    thanks!

 * Update: I actually looked more into prism, and you’re right, that was what I
   needed! Thank you!
