    Greetings - I'm trying to REactivate my child theme for TwentyTen. It was activated a while back, and then disappered. I switched to another theme temporarily, and now I can't get my child theme back. Nothing's changed that I can think of.

    What I've tried:

    • read every post, followed the Codex and other's intructions as well.
    • reviewed all my code
    • template name matches parent foldername
    • The child theme is in a separate folder under Themes.
    • cleared all my cache
    • disabled my cache plugin and cleared that cache.
    • removed everything from my child theme folder except the style.css

    It still doesn't show. I don't know what I'm missing.
    WP version 3.3.1

    Code for Style.css is below. Thanks in advance!
    Josh

    /*
    Theme Name: Twenty Ten Child
    Theme URI: http://wordpress.org
    Description: Child theme for the twentyten theme
    Template: twentyten
    Tags: black, blue, white, two-columns, fixed-width, custom-header, custom-background, threaded-comments, sticky-post, translation-ready, microformats, rtl-language-support, editor-style, custom-menu
    */

    @import url("../twentyten/style.css");
    body {
    	background: #333333;
    }
    #header {padding:10px 0 0 0;}
    #branding img {border-top: 0px solid #000000;}
    #branding { position:relative; }
    #site-title { display:none; }
    #site-description { display:none;  }

    I would (make sure to backup both first) delete Twenty Ten and the Child Theme completely and reupload both themes. Sometimes something that small can make the difference.

    That's the only idea I have since what you have there looks legit.

  3. That's not a bad idea.

    But also try disabling all of your plugins too, to see if there is a conflict causing this behavior.

    Thanks - just tried that, too. I only get the parent theme as an option. I do appreciate the confirmation that I'm not losing it entirely!

    Disabled all the plugs too. No luck. Ack!

  6. The parent theme is an option? And all you've made of the child theme is the style.css?

    Try downloading Esmi's basic Twenty Ten child theme and replace your Twenty Ten child theme with hers. Make a copy of yours first.

    http://quirm.net/themes/twenty-ten-child/

    In the new themes/twentyten-child/style.css add your additional CSS to the bottom of that file. See if that version works.

    JAN! You're AMAZING! Here's the most bizarre thing - it only works ONCE. If I upload it, then make my changes to it, it dies. Yet if I make my changes to it BEFORE the initial upload, it works and accepts my changes.

    A bit freaky! But it'll do for now. THANKS A MILLION!

    Are you FTP'ing and do you have your rules set to overwrite the new file?
