# Install a WordPress site from files?

 * Firstly Hello!
 * I am new here and should be floating around in the future. Till now I have been
   building sites old school way with notepad using html, css, some java then later
   html5 and css3… few days ago had a friend come for help. (I should not that I
   do not do it for any profit, just a hobby and helping friends and family) He 
   had someone rip him a new one with a high fee to set up a site plus ridiculous
   amount for hourly updates. I mentioned to him that WordPress can be configured,
   or at least I’v read as such, so that he can add simple content such as paragraphs
   and photos to the site him self.
 * Well we went on with moving his services and having me set up a new host and ………
   to my surprise the webmaster already utilized word press to build the site. I
   realize this because they sent me a .zip files contain what WordPress site would
   have; i.e. wp_content, wp_admin folders and files.
 * Well here is the questions:
 * Is the folder containing these files enough? Or do I need more from them.
 * I really hope that I am making sense here.

 * All those files go on the server at your host. Did he send a db backup or user/
   password to get into the db. That is where all your content is stored. Without
   it you have nothing.

 * In light of your advise I just got off the phone with them and they sent me the
   database link with credentials.
 * I’m there now, in the export screen.
 * Questions:
 * What format to export the data base in?

 * There are two databases One with user name and other says Information_schema .

 * Those files in the screenshot seems to be enough already. But the database is
   not included in it yet. You can download it via PhpmyAdmin> export. Do not download
   the Information_schema, that is not included. Usually, you can see the database
   information in the wp-config.php. From there you will know which DB is used by
   the site.
 * Database should be downloaded in an .sql file ext.
