 * Help, I just updated the plugin and now I can’t get onto my blog, I can’t even
figure out how to do a go around and get in to disable the plugin. My blog address
is [http://afixerupper.com](http://afixerupper.com) and you will see for yourself
what is shown, Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /home/afupper/
   public_html/wp-content/plugins/cat-signal/cat-signal.php on line 245
    Is there
a way you can remedy this?

 * There is no function on line 245 of the latest version of Cat Signal: [https://cloudup.com/cycFdpS4ETo](https://cloudup.com/cycFdpS4ETo)
 * It’s possible there’s something else going on (e.g. your site was infected by
malicious code, which is injecting code into other plugins). First, you’re going
to need to rename or delete the plugin from the /wp-content/plugins directory
via FTP. That should take care of the immediate problem.
 * After that, I would recommend running a Sucuri scan for malware on your site
to see if it has been compromised. [http://sitecheck.sucuri.net/](http://sitecheck.sucuri.net/)
 * Like I said, I don’t have a function on that line, so unless you edited the code,
you shouldn’t be seeing that error.

 * Thanks Chris, my site host got me out of it but I didn’t edit anything, I just
clicked on the plugin update along with 8 other plugin updates. I also did a
site check for malware and I am clear, so I don’t know what that error message
was all about, just one of those mysteries I guess.

 * That’s good news. I just checked the source on WordPress.org and it matches the
code that I have, so it _should_ be safe to install the plugin again. Closing
this ticket but if the issue comes back, let me know.

 * This is fixed in 1.0.9. Turned out to be an issue with servers running PHP 5.2
   or lower.
