 * hello im using wordpress as a static website and wondered if some one can tell
   me how to disable visitors posting altogether thanks in advance

 * disable comments. it’s under the discussion settings. they won’t apply to pages
   which are already published, you’ll have to edit those and disable discussions
   individually
