# HEIC file support

   converted to JPEG first? A lot of our client submissions come straight from iPhones
   in that format.

 * Thanks for the question, this comes up a lot given how many phones now shoot 
   in HEIC by default.
 * Robo Gallery relies on the WordPress Media Library for uploads, so HEIC support
   depends on WordPress core rather than something the plugin handles separately.
   The good news is that starting with WordPress 6.7, core added native support 
   for uploading HEIC images, WordPress automatically converts them to JPEG on upload,
   so they display correctly across all browsers (since HEIC itself isn’t well supported
   outside Safari/iOS).
 * So, in short: if your site is running WordPress 6.7 or later, your clients’ iPhone
   photos in HEIC format should upload and convert automatically, no manual conversion
   needed on your end.
 * If you’re on an older WordPress version, you’d either need to update to 6.7+ 
   to get that automatic handling, or convert the HEIC files to JPEG before uploading,
   since earlier versions don’t process that format natively.
