    Hi,

I’m considering switching to OpenStreetMap instead of Google Maps for financial reasons, but not sure about OSM tiles heavy use policy? Apparently is it prohibited which leads to ban.

Can you please explain if users of Geodirectory are affected by it? Not entirely sure, I would appreciate your help here.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

We have never had anyone report a ban from OSM, they are pretty lenient on their rules.

Are you leveraging the Google static map on the details page?

We also now have lazyload maps options, either load on click or auto load on scroll into view, these options work with both OSM and Google and should help reduce map loads and page load times in general. (Those are in advanced general settings)

    Thanks,

    Stiofan

Thanks Stiofan. Yes, I already use load on scroll, this definitely helps, but not sure about the static map. I didn’t know about this function. Can you explain please what does it do and how can I use it? Is it like a jpg instead of map with fixed width and height?

Yes, its in the map widget settings. Its the standard Google static maps, it shows an image until its clicked and then loads the full map.
