Support » Plugin: PowerPress Podcasting plugin by Blubrry » Headers already sent

  • I was looking at the WP Debug log on my client’s site and saw the following message…

PHP Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /var/sites/f/ in /var/sites/f/ on line 82 (xyz replacing my client’s domain)

Can you shed light on the problem?

    Hello @kendawes,

Thanks for being a PowerPress user!

The notice means that PowerPress is unable to add HTTP headers because something else on your site has already started outputting content from the server to the client.

Can you reply with a URL to the website so we can take a look?

One guess is that some plugin or theme you are using may have prematurely ended the PHP code and left a blank line in the code. For example, a PHP file that has a closing tag ?> then 1 or more lines following would cause this.

    Here’s the URL

I do not see anything out of the ordinary.

Your next step is to use the diagnostic steps on this page, disabling plugins and perhaps your theme to a default theme until you discover what theme or plugin is causing the issue.

When you find a specific theme or plugin is causing the issue, please reply and let us know so we can warn other users.

Also, usually this is not an issue but it could be, double check that your wp-config.php does not have any lines that are not within a <?php block. The file should not end with a closing PHP tag as well, which prevents the closing problem from happening that I mentioned earlier.
