That issue was indeed fixed a few years ago. Looking at your site, you don’t seem to be using Jetpack’s Mobile Theme module right now. Would you be willing to enabling the module again, so I can take a closer look at the issue on your site?

Could you also make a screenshot of your header image settings under Appearance > Customize > Header Image? You can use a service like http://snag.gy/ to share your screenshots here.

    Thanks!

It is enabled and active, and was when you just looked at it. Here’s the screenshot: http://cyberium.co.uk/e-access-screenshot.jpg

Here is what I see right now:

Jetpack’s Mobile Theme looks different; here is how it would usually look:

Looking at your site’s code, I believe you’re using the WPTouch plugin on your site right now, so you won’t see the Jetpack Mobile Theme.

I would recommend that you check your WPTouch options to see if the header image can be displayed in the WPTouch theme. If it can’t, you can deactivate that plugin and Jetpack’s Mobile Theme will appear instead, and should use the header image out of the box.

    I hope this helps.

Hi there. Your screen grab is what I see. WP Touch was enabled, and I have deactivated it. The site now looks terrible. The menu doesn’t work and the footer has vanished. The header is not there and nor is the header image. Check it out and compare to the desktop version.

It looks like some resources aren’t loaded at the moment. Do you use a caching or concatenating plugin? If so, could you try to flush your cache and see if it helps?

I don’t know how to do that on a phone! Which cache do you mean?

I don’t think the can be the problem. We have made many changes in edit.css to accommodate different demands of the client in terms of the menus, header and footer, including adding the facilities for users to change color schemes and font sizes for the sake of accessibility.

I donโ€™t know how to do that on a phone! Which cache do you mean?

That would depend on your caching plugin or service. I’d suggest looking at the different plugins active on your site, and their options, to figure out where cache can be flushed.

We have made many changes in edit.css to accommodate different demands of the client in terms of the menus, header and footer, including adding the facilities for users to change color schemes and font sizes for the sake of accessibility.

Those changes most likely won’t be visible when using a different theme like WPTouch or Jetpack’s Mobile Theme. When you switch themes, your previous theme’s stylesheet isn’t loaded anymore.

But this doesn’t explain why the background header image won’t load, if the Jetpack system is looking for the link – clearly that’s still there.

The header image is there right now on my phone. Unfortunately, a lot more is missing. Did you edit some of Jetpack’s mobile theme files in the past? If so, could you try to uninstall Jetpack and reinstall a fresh copy of the plugin?

I can’t see the header image on my Moto G, but can on my iPhone because it is way too big and the phone shrinks the rest of the page. This is what it was like before we tried using WPTouch. The only Jetpack file we edited I think was the one which contains footer data because the footer on the site wasn’t loading in the mobile version.

    (@cyberium)

So can you suggest a way to make the header image appear correctly with WPTouch enabled please?

That’s indeed the issue I’m seeing as well. That’s either caused by a caching issue, or by the changes you’ve made to the Jetpack plugin files.

Could you try install a fresh version of Jetpack, and let me know if the problem disappears?

I won’t be able to help you there as I’m not familiar with the WPTouch plugin. I’d suggest checking the WPTouch settings when the plugin is active. You’ll most likely find an option to enable a header image there.

Thanks, I didn’t know that was there. I found it and solved the problem. Sorry to trouble you and thanks for your help and patience!
