Header image missing after enabling SSL

    The website has a header image with a rainbow set up. This image has been displayed correctly until I activated the SSL certificate for that site. However, within the customizer the png is displayed just fine. Of course the URL to the image is https://

    I tried

    • reconfiguring the same picture
    • using another picture
    • replacing the image with the one supplied as an example the theme twenty seventeen suggests.
    • all of the above with 4.8.3–de_DE and 4.8.2–de_DE

      • No change.

      Any ideas?
