Header image as a custom google map

  • I am trying to make it so #headerimage is an embed code that Google My Places gives me. Is there anyway to do this? I have tried for a few hours doing some editing and have had no luck.

  • anyone?

Can you post your site URL?

ncwake.com/wp will get you to the wordpress part.

    I’m trying to make <iframe width="980" height="400" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src="https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=0&msid=202189540183464016280.0004c2f0818f32cf7055f&hl=en&ie=UTF8&t=m&source=embed&ll=35.496456,-79.892578&spn=3.577528,10.755615&z=7&output=embed"></iframe><br /><small>View <a href="https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=0&msid=202189540183464016280.0004c2f0818f32cf7055f&hl=en&ie=UTF8&t=m&source=embed&ll=35.496456,-79.892578&spn=3.577528,10.755615&z=7" style="color:#0000FF;text-align:left">NCwake.com</a> in a larger map</small>

as the header image, which is currently a picture of North Carolina.

    Thanks a bunch!

I can see the image is coming up. But it seems the size you allocated for your header image and the size of the Google map are different. I don’t think you can change the size of the Google map being downloaded, you have to change the header image size.

what i’m trying to do is run the google map application as the headerimage. However, it wants a picture and not the google map.

Tell me if everything else is OK. And tell me whether you want to place a map of North Carolina only, or you want that it should be imported from Google (tough work).

I was hoping it would be possible to have google maps as the headerimage; and be able to interact with it.

    give live url

No. Google map will be downloaded in its original size specified. If it is exactly NOT the size your header can accommodate, it will appear as you see now.

The map is already on your header. Did you check it? What problem do you find? What changes do you want?

Currently there is a picture in the header for #headerimage. I want to replace it with HTML code, which will load the google map, not a picture, So it will no longer be an imag (.gif/jpg/bmp/etc).

Is there any specific need because of which you want to import Google map? Or are you satisfied with an equivalent map that fits well?

Well, we want to feature custom locations on the map. So being able to embed that application would be awesome.

At present you cannot do that, instead place an equivalent map from your own server. You can save a public domain map of the area from many sources. And additionally NOTE THESE POINTS:
    1. You have got an incomplete WordPress installation that won’t allow you to do any thing.
    2. To overcome the above problem, please reinstall WP. You were advised how to do it already. If you do not want to try anything, then it is your problem.
    3. The WordPress forum can only guide you about how to solve problems. Actually doing that is your work.

So, I told you what is currently happening with your site. Please try to do what you were advised to do.

I have to add that from my experience the Google Map will show for a few weeks then Google will stop entertaining you and the map will stop displaying.
