I forgot to mention, I removed everything WP from the server, and upon re-upload/install I get the message that famous blank page message that my old installation is still active.
I’m having the same problem. My installation worked for a few minutes, but when I tried to make a change, it stopped working. I’ve deleted all the files, and recopied them to my server, but can’t install because it tells me I’ve already installed. But I can’t work with it; going to wp-admin tells me file not found.
So, how do I uninstall? I’d rather not delete the database and create a new one.
Thanks,
Ellen
To follow up, when I type in http://www.ellenfinkelstein.com/acadblog/wordpress/wp-admin, I see the following in my browser’s address window:
http://www.ellenfinkelstein.com/acadblog/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ellenfinkelstein.com%2Facadblog%2Fwordpress%2Fwp-admin%2F
The main window says:
Not Found
The requested URL /acadblog/wp-login.php was not found on this server.
Notice that it seems to think that the requested URL didn’t have the wordpress folder in it, but I did include that folder. The wordpress folder definitely exists.
Thanks,
Ellen
What kind of installation did you do originally? Automatic through your host or a manual install?
A manual install. My host doesn’t offer an automatic installation. Funny thing is, that I successfully installed another blog on my site and did this one the same way, or so I thought. It has a separate database and directory. It installed OK at first, but then I went through the steps of giving WordPress its own directory while leaving the blog in a higher one. Worked for the other blog but it broke this one.
If you are getting blank page then it could be memory problem. Add following code in your wp-config.php to raise memory limit:
define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ’64M’);
Well, that’s not what I’m getting. I was getting a Page Not Found and still get that if I type in http://www.ellenfinkelstein.com/acadblog/wordpress/wp-login.
When I type in http://www.ellenfinkelstein.com/acadblog, the page shows Index of acadblog, but no listing. (My site is set up not to show the contents of directories.)
