having trouble creating a child theme for premium template

  • Hi there!

    Have problems regarding setting up my child theme with a premium theme called ‘big city’ that I purchased from themefore.

    When creating the child theme in my hosting provider and going back into wordpress to activate, it doesn’t carry across the ‘option-tree’ design template of this theme. What I mean by this, is all the unique features of the big city parent template do not copy across. It only brings across the basic features like the header picture that I had set up originally on the parent page and my logo. Am I missing some extra code in my style.css?? This is what I have (please note I changed the author name for my privacy).

    /*
    Theme Name: bigcity child theme
    Description: Child theme for the bigcity theme
    Author: (private)
    Template: bigcity
    Version: 3.0
    */ @import url(”../bigcity/style.css”);

    I have even tried uninstalling the parent theme and reinstalling from scratch. since I had originally used it to start modifying my blog before creating a child theme. Naturally, I really want to use a child theme now to save potential future problems.

    Thanks in advance for your help!

    Have you contacted Theme Forest for assistance? Generally, commercial themes are not supported here — it’s part of what you paid for. There may be some specific issue with that theme relevant to child themes.
