Support » Theme: P2 » Having trouble adding left sidebar for P2 theme

  • I’ve been trying to move the sidebar to the left because it’s more convenient for me to navigate the blog that way. However I’m at lost here since all my attempts failed, the layout ended up broken and I had to reset the template to original state many times. Could somebody please give me a detailed instructions on how to have this done, or perhaps make the modified theme available?

    //I’ve searched the forum to see if there was anybody before me faced the same thing. I found some but none have concrete solution. BTW sorry for my bad English//

    It’s impossible to provide detailed instructions as the method varies from theme to theme. If you cannot carry out the work yourself, you may have to hire someone to modify the theme for you. Or choose another theme with a left sidebar.

    I don’t want to say this but your reply isn’t as helpful as I wanted it to be. I wanted a reply from somebody who knows how to do it with this specific theme (P2), not to be told that it’s impossible.

    yeah i kinda don’t know what esmi was talking about (maybe late night posting??)…

    anyways, its probably not that hard, i suggest you make a child theme for p2 so your changes wont revert back with an update ^_^

    and its most likely necessary to switch the place of “sleeve_main” (and classes inside) and “sidebar” div’s (so you need to have header.php and index.php on your child theme) and change the floating arguments on sleeve_main,postbox,main and sidebar (style.css), just use firefox firebug or chrome inspect element to tweak it out…

    like so:

    <div id=”wrapper”>
    <div class=”sleeve_main”>
    <script type=”text/javascript”>
    <div id=”postbox”>
    <div id=”main”>
    </div>
    <div id=”sidebar”>
    <div class=”clear”></div>
    </div>
