Support » Plugin: AdRotate Banner Manager » Having Issue with adrotate plugin

Basically, we were having issues using AdRotate to post some new banner ads to our site.

We thought maybe we were having issues due to not having the plugin and/or WP updated, obviously not realizing it would not be compatible with our theme.
So we updated everything hoping that it would allow us to create our new banner ads.

This is basically what we were trying to do through AdRotate:
When we go to “Advert” and “Add New” one of the first things we noticed is it is displaying this message where normally the preview would be: “Error, no Ad ID set! Check your syntax!“
So, this could maybe be the issue but we have no idea what needs to be done to fix that error message.

We’re using the same ad codes & everything she was using in recent banner ads as well.
We go through the normal process of setting the date and time, where we want it, etc., and then once we click “Save Advert” it says that it’s saved but we can’t find it anywhere.
It’s not under “Active” or “Expired” or really anywhere.

We also tried to reset the day/time for a banner ad that we wanted to continue, but again, once we press save, nothing happens.
Luckily, that one still shows up for us (unlike the new ones we create, they just don’t even generate), but we just can’t even update the date and time that we want it to run for.

When the site went down, all that would display was “The site is experiencing technical difficulties.” I contacted the hosting provider, and this was what they reported as the error they were seeing:

    146 PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function adrotate_group() in /nas/content/live/organicspa/wp-content/themes/soledad/header.php:185\nStack trace:\n#0 /nas/content/live/organicspa/wp-includes/template.php(722): require_once()\n#1 /nas/content/live/organicspa/wp-includes/template.php(671): load_template(‘/nas/content/li…’, true)\n#2 /nas/content/live/organicspa/wp-includes/general-template.php(41): locate_template(Array, true)\n#3 /nas/content/live/organicspa/wp-content/themes/soledad/single.php(8): get_header()\n#4 /nas/content/live/organicspa/wp-includes/template-loader.php(78): include(‘/nas/content/li…’)\n#5 /nas/content/live/organicspa/wp-blog-header.php(19): require_once(‘/nas/content/li…’)\n#6 /nas/content/live/organicspa/index.php(17): require(‘/nas/content/li…’)\n#7 {main}\n thrown in /nas/content/live/organicspa/wp-content/themes/soledad/header.php on line 185

    THere’s a bunch going on.

The “Error, no Ad ID set! Check your syntax!“ when editing an advert indicates a database issue.

And the “Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function adrotate_group() ” means the plugin is not active.

Fix the first issue and the rest will work too.

If you updated from a older version you may simply have to click the “finish update” button in your dashboard. You can also look at Settings > Maintenance, near the bottom for the updater.

Sir the plugin is active. What database issue that might be?

If the plugin were active adrotate_group would be defined.

Any errors with the database can be found in your servers error_log file.
Which can usually be found in your hosting dashboard somewhere.
