Having a problem with redirects in paths (2 posts)

We have moved over from an old HTML site to a WordPress site and used the Redirection module to update some of links from the old HTML pages to the new paths in WordPress, but we're getting inconsistent results.

The module says 'All URLs can be redirected, not just ones that don't exist' which is fine so I can only assume that it doesn't like links/in/paths?

http://www.compass-travel.co.uk/service_x6.html - this old page doesn't exist but if you try to visit the link you go to the new page successfully. But if you try this one:

http://www.compass-travel.co.uk/timetables/service_769.html - this page does exist and this is what shown, even though the redirection is entered the same way as above:

    Source: /timetables/service_769.html
    Target: http://www.compass-travel.co.uk/download/west-sussex-surrey-bus-services/769%20-brighton%20-%20burgess%20hill%20-%20haywards%20heath%20-%20sheffield%20Park.pdf
    Type: 301

Obviously the module is working but I can't identify why it is working selectively, the only difference being in the above examples that the second example is within the /timetables/ sub path.

I've been banging my head against the wall trying to work this out so I would really appreciate it if someone can advise.

    Many thanks for your help.

    I believe I have found a bug.

The module description states 'All URLs can be redirected, not just ones that don't exist' but I have just proven that if a page exists it will use that and ignore the redirection.

Using the above example you would visit this page and it would show the original HTML page. I then renamed the HTML page and then the redirection starts working.

This is the original renamed page.

I haven't been able to see anything in the configuration about ignoring existing pages so I presume this is a bug.

It would be great if the module could cope with this so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
