    Hi,

    Ever since a previous update, months ago I’ve been having issues with the combination of this plugin and my theme Bookrev Lite. I could no longer access my WP Admin and my website went blank. After a few updates that issue was solved. It was known by you and had an open ticket on GitHub. Sadly I continue to have issues with this plugin and basically miss the effect it is supposed to have underneath each article and on the HomePage with grades.
    The ‘safest’ version for me currently is 3.1.0, which -as you can see – is several updates back. I was lucky enough to be able to roll back so far after the last update, because as soon as I update my website becomes a huge mess, or worse: I can’t get in and it becomes blank.

    So two things happen, depending on which update:
    1. The worst being: blank screen and no entrance to my own wp-admin. I then need to go into my hosting account, manually rewrite the title, so it no longer gets recognised, so I can then re-enter admin and deactivate.

    2. In the last few updates I CAN enter my site, but if I update then my entire template gets out of whack. Some images showing enormous from the widgets, grades from that TOP 5 or Top 10 books jumping all-over each other or showing only half or not. Text from one part of the site being plastered over another part. Not something you want to show.

    The situation I am in now is that I had to roll back to 3.1.0, the furthest I could. But ideal this is NOT. My widgets on the Homepage work…ish (new entrances are no longer picked up for the Top 10 for example, but I keep them because otherwise it will be completely empty there). BUT the complete wrap up with grades and pro’s and cons that goes underneat each review article and is the core of the whole plugin no longer exists. Some older articles still show some bars, though they are no longer coloured. All the new ones (from the last few months) show ARRAY | ARRAY where pro and con should be and the rest of the list is white space. They don’t show the affiliate option (just an orange little button) and links, no pictures and no grade bars with grades either. The grades on the books on the homepage have been lost too.

    This part is kind of essential and is actually the entire reason someone has Product Review plugin.

    Perhaps also good to know: I have my plugin set manually, because automatically isn’t an option at all (website also becomes a mess with for some reason TWO Wrap up parts that are both crappy) and it still showed a very old style. Colours I ask for aren’t shown either. I can’t remember why this was, but maybe this is part of the issue.

    I really hope there is someone who can sit down with me and find out what is wrong so I can go back to using the plugin and have a decent review section. That is why I chose this theme & plugin combo. It did work for a year or so…

    I really apologize to know that is happening to you. We can work this out together. What if you update the plugin, and the theme now? What happens? Also, make sure you have not tweaked any of the WordPress’ core files, or theme’s or plugin’s files.

    I have not done any changes to my wordpress install then installing these plugins.

    Disqus for WordPress – newest
    TablePress – newest
    Theme My Login – newest
    TinyMCE Advanced- newest
    WP Product Review Lite – 3.4.2
    WP-reCAPTCHA-bp – newest
    Contact Form 7 – newest

    I use the Online ShopVersjon: 1.2.3 – I update to newest version

    I cant understand why this happens?

    Hey there,

    Check the error log of the website of the time when the website admin went blank. Here’s how you can check it – http://snapcreek.com/blog/wordpress-error-log-friend/.

    also, enable the debug mode of WordPress too – https://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPress.

    Through this, we will be able to see if any code or server related errors are causing this problem.

    For some reason I didn’t get the message you replied. And I didn’t check anymore after so much time had passed…

    Two questions:
    I have no idea to whom your colleague is talking now since someone else posted on my thread with their own question about updates and muddying the thread. If she’s talking to me: this happened over half a year ago, so I really do not know what date it was anymore. Also admin going blank is no longer the issue. Your newer versions no longer do that…at least: let’s hope the *newest* does not either. Is this still necessary info? Can *you* remember which day you rolled out that particular update? Because that is the date my admin and website went blank.

    I am willing to update the plugin now (as in this weekend, can’t now in case something goes wrong), since I feel very uncomfortable leaving plugins un-updated. But before I do I need to know if I can roll back to the version that is still sort of-working right now.
    I kept on updating the theme file by the way, and I never tweak anything. I work with a Child theme and at the moment would not even know how to tweak anything in there anymore (even though I want to).

    We would always recommend you to update the plugin, as we regularly fix the known bugs, and add more features. Also, it is always great working with the child theme, if much customization is to be done. If you still have fear of updating the plugin, I will suggest you to take a backup of plugin (from FTP, download the plugin directory as a zip file), and then update the plugin. If it fails (which is not likely to happen), upload the backup plugin, and please let us know what happened (either here, or at https://themeisle.com/contact).
